Forum Title: Buying Carpet from Dalton Georgia rather than local
We have 550 sq ft to do and want a nylon stainmaster (maybe Shaw or Phenix) and rubber pad. We are strongly considering buying wholesale from a place in Dalton and having it shipped. I have a reputable installer locally. The saving is several hundred dollars (even considering shipping and installation) but I obviously won't be able to speak to them in person at time of installation. Anyone have experience (good or bad) ordering carpet online? THANKS

I have installed a lot of carpet from the buying direct type guys with good results. Only one time I had a bad experience and then whoever the company was didn't have a clue how this product should be installed. He was selling a glue carpet over pad, thick pad at that. Your job works out to about 61 sq. yards. Don't buy more than 60 yards of pad as you make up some on installation unless you have a perfectly square room with no cut outs. Daris

Yes, carpet comes in LTL trailer. Tailgate delivery Truck drivers are always so peachy too What will happen if there is a tear inside the core from shipping, it happens just being honest. Make sure to inspect it for flaws, zippers and sidematch problems. If you cut it, you own it. Warranty issues may be difficult when a mill sees a wholesaler, when they have nobody to protect like a local dealers reputation. If my customer has a valid problem than its my problem. If you have a problem with bubbles, no matter the quality of installer, we get them sometimes. Will he fix it? Will he blow you off?

Just received mine yesterday from Dalton Georgia. Possibly the same company. They had hundreds if not thousands of reviews online with an average rating of 4.5+ stars. Very simple process over the phone. Even with shipping I saved $276 total on 27 SY of sheet vinyl. They didn't have mine in stock so it took a total of 10 days to arrive, and that includes 2 weekends. I haven't unrolled it yet but I removed all the outside plastic. The roll appears to be perfect, no dents, bends. Fingers crossed. Good Luck!
